Government must take over production of COVID-19 protection equipment | Letter to the editor

An open letter to Florida’s federally elected officials:

I am begging you and your colleagues to put all pressure available on President Donald Trump to use the Defense Production Act to mandate production of personal protection equipment for our hospital workers. These professionals are in grave danger because they don’t have access to necessary protection.

If what New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says is true, the states are competing for these products and virtually in a price war resulting in price gouging and ineffective distribution. PLEASE, the Federal government needs to take charge. They must utilize the DPA, order production and take over distribution. Please, care about these physicians and nurses as though they were your family.

Some of them are to us.
