People who lie about the coronavirus should be charged with a crime | Letter to the editor

President Trump has finally decided to stop misleading people about the coronavirus and standing in the way of the experts’ emergency measures to deal with the crisis, thank God.

However, I still see other people, including major television and radio stations, continuing to lead people astray, calling it a hoax, that it’s no worse than the flu, and that it’s all hype by Trump’s political enemies to hurt him politically. These are lies with deadly consequences.

This is no longer just political skullduggery. People will die because of this. We need to charge people criminally for this. If no laws currently exist to stop this, we need to pass them. This is worse than yelling “fire” in a crowded theater.
