Florida domestic violence agency’s boss guilty of ‘obscene’ spending | Letter to the editor

Thanks for the front page coverage Monday on “Head of nonprofit networked to get paid $7.5M.”

There is no telling how much this needed domestic violence charity has been and will be hurt by the fraudulent actions of this political appointee, Ms. Tiffany Carr (AKA Miss Piggy). Her receipt of $5 million over four years time for “paid time off,” in addition to salary, travel and auto expenses is obscene, in my opinion. From one contented retiree with an annual income of much less than 6% of Ms. Carr’s average income, I have a problem understanding her motivation for ever-increasing schemes to bilk that worthy charity of needed funds. Four swanky homes and untold hidden assets seem hardly enough for evil people who conspire to take all they can regardless of whom they rob.

Ms. Carr and her enablers need to be investigated and brought to justice. I only hope that the Florida House competently investigates the matter and that the questionable fringe benefits or unwarranted payments are identified and properly regulated.

Kudos to investigating reporter Mary Ellen Klas for bringing this sorry story to light in our free press. Too many times abuses such as this might have gone unnoticed without good investigative reporting.
