Manatee County should do more to rid roadways of illegal signs | Letter to the editor

Getting rid of the illegal wicker signs is a good idea but our elected officials are going about it wrong.

Manatee is a wicker county. You do not see them in Lakewood Ranch, which has its own enforcement.

Ninety percent of the signs have the name of the violator and telephone number. The county should adopt fines that would more than pay for help to remove them. Why are the elected officials afraid of fining violators?

Wicker signs pop up faster than the weeds sin my lawn. We would not need citizens to do the work if the commissioners had guts.
