What motivates our commissioners? Ask a developer

Herald file photo

Sunday’s comments by Scott Scoville, concerning our county commissioners’ reprehensible decisions and actions leading to the destruction and disappearance of our century-old Civil War Veterans monument, are right on target. I echo his remarks, and find it somewhat puzzling that apparently our commissioners think this issue is going to go away if they ignore it long enough.

Since I have been watching this board in action the last few months, I wonder how anything gets accomplished? They come to meetings quite often unprepared to navigate through their own agenda. This lack of preparation makes for chaotic, long, confusing meetings. Yet they do seem to be able to grant permits for developers. Aqua by the Bay is a prime example.

I would hope that the voters in Manatee County take the time to look at these commissioners and evaluate their performance, leadership and integrity when filling out their ballots Election Day.
