Give our new President Trump ‘benefit of the doubt’
We need to put a little thought into the “taking a knee” issue. If you suggest we enact a law requiring everyone to stand in respect of our flag and national anthem, you have missed the point.
Do you think we would be instilling love of our country by doing so? I think not. I’d prefer those who don’t love this land of the free and home of the brave to stay seated, unlike the wheel-chair veteran I saw struggling to stand during the ceremony. We all must EARN respect; act like an idiot and you’ll be treated as such.
As a man who fought for this country, I am ashamed to see how disrespectful our citizenry has become since I was a young man. President Obama was elected hoping for racial diversity and acceptance, but he did more to divide us racially than George Wallace could have. His three predecessors (Bush, Clinton & Bush) promoted the “new world order” and European style socialism which is contrary to anything I believe in.
We have a new president who wants to get us back on track, so we should all give him the benefit of the doubt and clean out the swamp.
