Bonfire with Irma waste could unite neighbors
As we all share the frustration of the massive yard waste in Bradenton, as well as the entire state, and try not to complain, I wonder if it couldn’t be used for a community project that could serve as a fundraiser/community spirit event.
If it could be approached from a “nonpolitical” point of view: people with pickup trucks take their waste, or their neighbors’, have it hauled to a predetermined area, get local businesses to donate items for raffles, make the tickets cheap, add a couple food/drink trucks, again offered cheap, and on specific nights the entire city is invited to a fire department-controlled burn “bonfire,” with anyone who hauls a load getting free raffle tickets for their good deed.
Moneys raised could go to homeless, or people who need help with Irma repairs. It’s a way to bring community together, everyone loves bonfires. A “ TAKE THAT IRMA” night that could be held all over the state and get rid of a lot of waste free and build community pride and spirit.
