You can’t change history, folks
So, why is it that everyone now is in an uproar about these statues? Where was the outrage two weeks ago, two years ago, 20 years ago?
It is obvious that these statues didn't offend anybody then, but can someone please tell me why now? Maybe some of you should read George Orwell's “1984.” History cannot be changed, we learn from our mistakes and move on.
It is not a symbol of hatred, it is a symbol of our past history. Getting rid of these statues is not going to change anything except to make people feel better about themselves. I will not be voting for the people who voted to take the statue down at the Manatee Courthouse.
