Lawmakers getting paid nicely to do zilch

In a somewhat rank-and-file order, members of Congress headed home recently. Many of them were not expecting a jubilant reception. Some even tiptoed less they awoke the people who voted for them.

What went wrong? It had been a session filled with bickering, name calling, insults and rancor. A group of first-graders has more decorum...even at recess.

We were promised a new and better health care plan. We got zilch. Does the Administration and Congress have a health plan? They do. In addition they have allowances for housing and other expenses. This is not a shabby job.

When the health care plan was written behind closed doors, it was doomed. There was no time to digest it. They failed to realize the importance of doing things together. That key word can move us forward. As a great nation, we are at our best and even stronger when we work together.

We've watched and listened to six-plus months of theater. What about those promises made to us? We paid for six months of work and what do we have? Another zilch. Do you have that kind of job?

We need to contact those who represent us and let them know they speak for us.

It's time we demand that the mantra of working together is paramount to all lawmakers involved.
