Congress needs to look up ‘together’
The razzle-dazzle in Washington has lost its luster. The halfhearted attempt to create a health care plan went down the tubes. They offered reasons and excuses. At times, bickering and name-calling was totally disgusting and not professional. A group of first-graders have more decorum — even at recess.
If you take time to dig deeper, you'll find that Congress is not hurting when it comes to their health care. That, plus allowances for housing and other expenses, makes it far from a shabby deal. What's good for the goose is good for the gander comes to mind. We are the gander!
One thing we know for sure and that is the word “together” was ignored. As a nation, we are at our best and stronger when we do things together.
We also know that lawmakers worked for more than six months, but close to zilch was accomplished. Could you do that on your job?
We need to contact our members of Congress to inform them that they speak for us. It's not a solo kind of job. We value our right to vote.
I suggest we demand that the mantra of “together” be paramount when Congress convene.
