Bradenton’s eroding environment should be our first concern
I’m writing this after reading another editorial regarding President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Accord. We have plenty of environmental issues here in Bradenton, especially along Cortez Road West with Carlos Beruff’s Aqua by the Bay project.
I am very upset with all the incoming buildings, the tearing down of all green spaces, and the mangroves removed. Our shoreline has irreversably changed, and people do not want such a big crowded area.
Just think: Almost 3,000 units means at least 3,000 cars added to a road that in season can't handle the traffic. Also, the talk of a new Cortez bridge would destroy the fishing village. Also, the cottages being added by the Seafood Shack will add a car for each cottage.
Start with keeping Bradenton’s environment clean, with more green areas and the coastline protected. Then worry which country will pay to save our world.
Bradenton’s building commissioners are allowing overbuilding. Wildlife is being shoved out, replaced by concrete. Remember Aqua by the Bay wants 12 95-foot buildings, four 145-foot buildings. How many units? It is now supposed to be 35 feet high. You worry about President Trump saying no, when Bradenton destroys the environment with overbuilding.
