As a volunteer for Manatee County Animal Services, I would like to let our community know how PetSupermarket, 6908 Manatee Ave. W., really came through for our homeless dogs from the Palmetto shelter.

Managers Megan and Cindy planned and reorganized the store so that MCAS volunteers could show some of the wonderful big dogs needing adoption. Many needed items were donated by PetSupermarket customers, like big dog toys, treats, shampoo, platform beds and collars. The compassionate employees are very dedicated to helping homeless pets and get many kudos for helping our shelter dogs.

Anyone looking for a loving and beautiful companion dog or cat to adopt should visit the Manatee Animal Services in Palmetto. Unfortunately, there are too many housed there, but you will definitely be able to find one to match your family needs and desires. Adoption to their “forever home” is a shelter major goal.

You could also consider becoming a shelter volunteer this summer. Dog walkers are especially low in numbers right now, in the morning hours from 8-11 a.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturdays while the kennels are being cleaned. Other volunteer jobs include helping to clean dog toys and bowls, adoption event help, transporting dogs, play groups and more. You will meet some of the most loving and dedicated volunteers ever, and you will receive lots of love from the animals. Sign up for orientation on mymanatee.org and become a volunteer today.
