Divided we fall — and united we’re definitely not

Let’s face it, we are a country divided: racially, ethnically, politically, economical, rich and poor.

As I remember, candidate Trump was going to make this country “great” again, not for any one class, but for everyone. Now it appears that this may not be the case: If you have it, you can keep it, if you don’t, tough luck.

Call the current health care program what you like, at present it has problems. But some parts are working quite well, so why throw the baby out with the bath water? Why not accept the things that work and fix the things that do not. I do not want Obamacare, nor do I want Trumpcare. What I would like to see is an American health care for all, something that everyone can afford.

As I see it, in Washington the controlling party is not concerned about the public; it’s concerned about how to please the president’s ego. Look at the proposal for tax reform. If you are like me, I do not see any advantage for the average citizen to move up. The current CEOs look to gain large benefits as they will bring back jobs from overseas. Therefore, the vast tax reduction will be offset by the millions of new employees who will be paying taxes. Well, folks, this is the biggest whopper that this administration is trying to sell. Why? We can fill jobs with qualified employees now. Make no mistake, I want to make this country great again, and I want this president to succeed. But I want all Americans to succeed, not just the 1 percenters.

In closing, I know that I am spitting into the wind. But we need to elect people in all levels of government who will support all the people, not one political party or one’s utter ego.
