GOP ‘health plan’ is draconian
“A huge tax cut for folks like me.” That’s how legendary billionaire investor Warren Buffett accurately described the Republican “health plan” that recently was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. (NYT May 7, 2017)
In addition, noting that the Republican bill provides less coverage than Obamacare, every major medical and consumer advocate organization has opposed the Republican bill along with the vast majority of the American people according to reputable polls. Contrast Warren Buffet’s truthful honesty mentioned above with the lies and deceptions that Republicans are using to defend TrumpNoCare, particularly concerning pre-existing conditions.
Andy Slavitt, former acting administrator of the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, put it well: “As long as we (referring to the Republican Plan) can throw someone with a pre-existing condition into a high-risk pool, we can say that they’re covered. Even if we can charge them tens of thousands of dollars more. Even if we can give them something that doesn’t give them access to care. And even if we don’t fund it well enough.” (Bradenton Herald May 5, 2017)
Hopefully Vern Buchanan and the other Republicans who voted for this draconian measure will be resoundingly defeated in the 2018 Congressional elections.
