Trump donation to Bondi merits probe
Over the past several months, there have been repeated reports by the news media that Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi solicited a $25,000 “donation” from Donald Trump. That the word “allegedly” has been conspicuously omitted in describing the reported solicitation seems significant.
Following receipt of the 2013 donation, the attorney general declined to pursue claims of fraud leveled by dozens of Florida residents against Trump University. Now, It has been reported that Attorney General Bondi may be offered a position in the upcoming Trump administration.
It seems reasonable to question whether ethics watchdogs have been asleep or are merely indifferent to what has all the appearances of solicitation and acceptance of a bribe. If media reports have been accurate, why has no investigation taken place and why have no charges been filed?
xIt is unsettling at best to see that laws can be flaunted with impunity by those with power, position and influence, while average citizens remain subject to a system of justice that is far less flexible or forgiving.
