My feelings of gratitude are immense as I think of those in our community who stood beside me for the last 16 months in my campaign for school board. The time invested to improve our school district and community is a decision I will never regret, nor a challenge I will give up.

I encourage everyone in our community to stay focused on improving and strengthening our school district, as it is our schools that nourish our community.

Instead of promoting the standardization of education, it is my hope that our leaders will push the other way, to customize education, so that each child can reach his or her full potential. The key to success lies with our teachers and the obstacles they face are daunting.

It is also dependent on our community valuing education — whether they have children in the school system or not. We made the first step forward with the extension of the sales tax. Let’s keep marching forward and pick up the pace.

The time is now to rally behind David Miner and our school board, and press for change that will allow our kids and teachers to soar.

Misty Servia
