My past experience as Manatee County Republican Party chair for 10 years and Republican Party of Florida board member for six years has provided me with the ability to spot a conservative when I meet one.

David Miner, school board candidate, works for parents, students and teachers, including taxpayers. Mr. Miner was not on the board during the Tim McGonegal regime four years ago. However, he has worked hard to provide solutions to the financial chaos revealing the millions of overspent dollars approved by the board during those years. He has a proven record of resolving complex issues.

As a former Manatee County commissioner, I fully understand that a chair of any board is strictly political — the developers want more schools adjacent to their new developments. They know that Mr. Miner’s opponent will make that happen whether needed or not. And with your tax dollars.

Mr. Miner has been elected to represent 13 counties on the state education board. These are his peers who know the issues. His peers saw Mr. Miner’s active role in working with legislators across the state, and he was selected to serve their best interests in their counties. That demonstrates confidence in Mr. Miner’s judgment.

Having known David Miner for 30 years, I have seen him work hard for our students. Prior to election, he regularly attended school board meetings with solutions.

He has visited every school at least once each year, speaking to parents, principals and teachers. This knowledge allows him the opportunity to discuss issues with parents and teachers, providing solutions to perplex education issues.

Watch David Miner enter a room — he is “high energy” all the way!
