Ban pets from shopping carts

Are you fed up having to shop in grocery stores that permit customer’s dogs to ride in shopping carts? There is no law permitting or condemning this; however, there should be.

Even so, no grocery store should allow it for health reasons! Dog hair can easily fly through the air and land both in and out the carts. Theses carts are pushed through the store from the deli, the meat department and even the vegetable and the fresh fruit department!

Some dog lovers even bring stained blankets for the dog to lie on and then we the people unknowingly shop with contaminated carts. Yes, this should be considered a health situation.

The fundamental purpose of the shopping cart is to transport clean merchandise, not dogs. Stores are required to allow service dogs (with papers), but true service dogs do not require rides and in many cases it might impede the dog from performing their trained duties.

Stores that allow dogs in shopping carts are creating unsanitary conditions and are demonstrating unprofessionalism by lack of concern to provide a clean shopping environment.

If you agree, please write your congressman; it’s time for action.
