A confirmation of patriotism

On Sept. 11, my wife, my son and I were a part of something very special, something that affirmed my belief that patriotism is alive and well in this country.

We were at a local sports bar to watch football. On the television there was a flag presentation by local firefighters to commemorate the events of 9-11-2001. And when the stadium announcer asked for the stadium spectators to rise for the the “Star-Spangled Banner,” people in the restaurant, at least 75, stopped talking , put down their forks and beer mugs, and rose to their feet.

All of us , including wait staff, shared a special moment. Some tears were shed, and no one was ashamed to show their love for this wonderful country we call the United States of America!
