Restroom, gender an uncomfortable issue

The war of words over North Carolina’s House Bill 2 erupted Monday into legal battle that could be fought on multiple fronts. The state and federal government traded lawsuits and fighting words about the state’s so-called “bathroom law” through much of the day.

Life is one long exercise in making choices. Making choices like boys using girls’ bathrooms is a choice that doesn’t solve anyone’s problems.

Boys who would rather be girls want to use the ladies’ rooms. When they do, they’re still boys. They haven’t resolved their problem, but they have made a lot of girls uncomfortable.

What goes around comes around. You can’t get comfortable by making others uncomfortable. Maybe that’s a delusion of the “me me me” generation.

Everyone has uncomfortable inner feelings. Everybody’s life is a soap opera. Deal with it. If you can’t deal with it, get professional help to find out what you can and cannot change. Maybe you could start by surrendering the desire to force what you want on others.

As the cartoon captain noted, “Life is hard, and then you die.”
