Cheers to the return of the Remote Area Medical clinic. After last November's highly successful debut served almost 1,800 needy people with free health and dental care, the nationally known Remote Area Medical USA decided to return with a bigger event. With the addition of a third day and a clinic for dogs and cats, the event promises to be another tremendous service to this community -- and well beyond as out-of-state people travel here for treatments, just like last year.

The Nov. 11-13 event will once again be held at Manatee Technical College with the pet clinic on Nov. 10.

Last year's event was Remote Area Medical USA first foray into Florida. The philanthropic organization has staged nearly 800 events over the years, both nationally and internationally,

The organization was so pleased with the Manatee County turnout -- not just patients, but physicians, dentists and many other health care providers -- plans are afoot to expand across Florida to other communities. What a boon to the working poor, the uninsured and the underinsured.

Dr. Richard Conard of Bradenton organized the 2015 RAM here, and is now president of Florida RAM. We wish him great success in expanding RAM in the state.
