Manatee County under flood watch after Hurricane Milton. What’s the weather like?
Hurricane Milton may have left Florida, but the effects of the storm surge and flooding remain as heavily hit areas like Manatee County focus on recovery.
The county is under a flood watch issued by the National Weather Service until 8 p.m. Thursday. The Category 3 storm, which made landfall at Siesta Key just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday with 120 mph winds, brought life-threatening storm surge, pounding winds and power outages to counties across the state.

The deluge of rain, however, has mostly subsided.
Thursday is anticipated to be a clear, windy day — with gusts as high as 47 mph that will slow down at night. There is a 50 percent chance of rain, but less than a 10th of an inch of new rain is expected, except for higher amounts in thunderstorms, the weather service said.
Friday and Saturday are forecast to be sunny, slightly breezy days.
The NWS is also warning of a high risk of rip currents through Saturday morning.
