About 130,000 Manatee County residents have been left without power after Hurricane Ian battered Florida’s southwest coast, or more than half of the county.

Both of the county’s electricity providers, Florida Power & Light and Peace River Electric Cooperative, have online maps that report local outages in real time. The maps can show how widespread an outage is and may provide information about when power might return.

By Friday morning, FPL had 88,480 customers with outages.

FPL hasn’t provided a timeline for restoration.

For more information, visit FPL’s outage map www.FPLMaps.com.

Most of the county’s 36,000 residents serviced by Peace River — 94% — were without power as of Thursday morning.

For more information, visit Peace River’s outage map https://members.preco.coop/maps/OutageWebMap, though the website appeared to be down Friday morning.
