Manatee cold weather shelters set to open Monday, Tuesday as temperatures drop

Temperatures are going to drop again in the Bradenton area, and cold weather shelters are opening to those in need during these frigid days.

On Monday, Feb. 23, and Tuesday, Feb. 24, The Salvation Army and Under One Roof will open their shelters to the public, providing a warm place to sleep for those in need.

The Salvation Army, 1204 14th St. W., Bradenton, will begin its check-in at 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

Under One Roof, which is open to women only at 407 57th Ave. E. in Bradenton, will open its doors at 2:45 p.m.

Transportation is available to these two locations as the Manatee County Area Transit will leave from Turning Points, located at 701 17th Ave. W., at 2:30 p.m.

To further aid the community as temperatures get colder, Turning Points “will provide warmth and coffee during the cold weather,” according to Manatee County.

“Residents are encouraged to help spread the word to anyone who may need a warm, safe place during the cold temperatures,” the county said in a news release
