Manatee County remains under high wind advisory in wake of severe storms. Sunshine Skyway is open
Manatee County remains under a high wind and other weather advisories until 7 a.m. in the wake of severe weather overnight that at various times put the Bradenton area under tornado and severe thunderstorm watches and warnings.
There were no reports of tornados in Manatee, but a twister did touch down in Pinellas County, according to Spectrum Bay News 9.
About two-thirds of an inch of rain was reported at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport between midnight and 2 a.m., according to the Weather Service.
The Sunshine Skyway Bridge has been reopened to traffic, but the Florida Department of Transportation advised motorists to drive with caution because of continued high winds.
The storms moved quickly through the Tampa Bay region. However, Manatee remains under wind and high surf advisories until 7 a.m. Friday.
Friday is expected to be sunny with a high around 65 degrees and a low in the upper 40s.
Wind speeds will remain elevated at around 13 to 22 mph, but they are expected to die down by Friday evening.
