Rain is coming to Manatee County this week. But will it be sunny New Year’s weekend?
The last weekend of 2023 is set to bring drier and cooler air to the area, according to the National Weather Service Tampa Bay’s forecast.
But before the weekend hits, Bradenton and Manatee County residents can expect a wet Thursday. There’s a 80% chance of rain with the potential for the rainfall to total up to a quarter of an inch in Thursday’s forecast, the NWS said.
Rain showers are expected to happen before 1 p.m. Thursday.
By Friday, winds could gust as high as 21 miles per hour, the National Weather Service’s forecast said. The coldest it is projected to get over the New Year’s holiday weekend is 47 degrees Saturday night.
New Year’s Day is projected to be sunny with a high of 70.
Here’s a look at the day-by-day forecast through Monday:
- Thursday: high of 69 degrees with 80% rain amounting to a tenth up to a quarter of an inch. Partly cloudy with a low of 55 degrees at night.
- Friday: partly sunny with a high near 66 degrees and winds at 10 to 14 miles per hour. Mostly cloudy with a low of 51 degrees at night.
- Saturday: partly sunny with a high near 64 and winds around 10 miles per hour. Partly cloudy with a low of 47 degrees at night.
- Sunday: sunny with a high near 66 and winds between 6 and 8 miles per hour. Mostly clear with a low of 51 at night.
- Monday (New Year’s Day): Sunny with a high of 70 and partly cloudy with a low of 50 at night.
