Bradenton is next in path of storm system that caused tornadoes across the South
The same storm system that has caused multiple tornado outbreaks this week across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama will push through Bradenton on Thursday, the National Weather Service in Tampa said.
Although the approaching cold front is a part of the same system that has damaged over 12,550 structures and killed one person in the New Orleans metropolitan area, NWS meteorologists said it would be weaker by the time it gets to Bradenton.
The main severe weather threat in Bradenton is going to be Thursday morning.
Around 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., the cold front should be right over Tampa Bay, and that’s where the line of showers should start developing and heading down to the Bradenton area, causing heavy rains, possible thunderstorms and higher than normal tides in the Gulf of Mexico.
After the system passes through, lingering moisture could make for gloomy weather conditions with moderate rain and clouds in the forecast throughout the day into overnight Thursday, the weather service said.
Forecasters said there could be some rain Friday morning before 9 a.m., but as the sun rises, it should break up the remaining storm clouds.
After the storms, temperatures are expected to drop to overnight lows in the upper 50s, dipping to the mid 50s by Monday and Tuesday.
