$94,000 taken from Little League went to Prime Video and restaurants, FL cops say
Tens of thousands of dollars that went missing from a Florida Little League were spent by the club’s former president to upgrade his lifestyle, Florida investigators say.
William Harold Reynolds III is accused of taking $94,000 from the Yulee Little League, which he spent on entertainment, going out to eat and gasing up his vehicle, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said in a Sept. 12 news release.
“The league’s Vice President contacted NCSO in May after the board discovered financial irregularities involving Reynolds. The board alleged Reynolds used league funds for personal, unauthorized purchases,” the sheriff’s office said.
“Investigators discovered Reynolds used YLL’s debit card repeatedly for unauthorized purchases totaling more than $94,000 since January 1, 2024, resulting in significant losses for the league. Notable unauthorized purchases included nearly $13,000 for Amazon and Prime Video, more than $3,000 at gas stations, and more than $4,000 at restaurants.”
Reynolds was arrested and charged with theft and fraud, and bond was set at $30,000, the sheriff’s office said.
A post on the league’s Facebook page indicates Reynolds assumed the presidency in August 2023, after having been a part of the operation for 20 years.
“It’s shameful to steal from children,” Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said in the release.
“Little leagues help make kids’ dreams a reality. I want to thank the Yulee Little League Board members, as well as our investigators for working diligently to obtain and search records in order to arrest this individual.”
Yulee is about a 25-mile drive north from Jacksonville.
