A Powerball player just missed a massive jackpot prize — but still won big in Florida.

The player bought a ticket that matched all but one number picked in the Sept. 3 drawing, making it worth $1 million, results show.

The winning numbers: white balls 3-16-29-61-69, with red Powerball 22.

The lucky $2 ticket was sold in Fort Myers, a roughly 125-mile drive south from Tampa. It came from the Publix grocery store on Gladiolus Drive, the Florida Lottery wrote in a news release.

The player is set to get richer after their ticket matched all the white balls. But it was one number from scoring the jackpot prize, which stood at an estimated $1.4 billion the night of the drawing. No one hit the jackpot, which is expected to rise to $1.7 billion for the next drawing on Sept. 6, according to the Powerball website.

As of early Sept. 4, the Florida Lottery on its website didn’t say whether the $1 million prize had been claimed. In the Sunshine State, Powerball winners have about six months to cash in, rules show.

What to know about Powerball

To score the jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
