‘Trembling’ shelter dog would ‘barely leave her kennel.’ Then came good news
A “trembling” shelter dog would “barely leave her kennel” — then came good news.
After Pam “blossomed” into a more confident pup, she had a heartwarming adoption in Florida.
“Our longest resident, Pam, finally got her happy ending,” the Humane Society of Tampa Bay wrote Aug. 12 on Facebook. “After patiently waiting for her perfect match, Pam went home and is already thriving with her new sibling. We’ve even received updates that she’s loving every minute of her new life!”
Pam’s journey toward adoption started when she was picked up as a stray. After she landed at the humane society in February, she was seen “trembling in the corner of her kennel,” the shelter wrote on its website and in a past social media post.
“She was dejected and scared and would barely leave her kennel without another dog companion with her,” Regan Blessinger, marketing and content manager for the shelter, told McClatchy News via email. “Through playgroups with the volunteers and working with the staff Pam grew her confidence so much so she was able to go out on Doggie Day Outs!”
Pam also started playing outside and going on walks around the shelter. But even as workers reported that the “loyal” pup was making a “powerful” transformation, she spent months waiting for a second chance.
“Her shy personality was often why she got overlooked but finally the right family came along,” Blessinger wrote.
Though Pam was one of 55 animals who got new homes on Aug. 9, the shelter said her adoption was “extra special.”
“The staff and volunteers were so happy that Pam got adopted,” Blessinger wrote. “A lot of people even from the community had been watching her journey and rooting for her and we got messages with well wishes for her.”
