Youth pastor abused foster daughters, one ‘within days’ of moving in, FL cops say
A volunteer youth pastor accused of sexually abusing two of his foster daughters for years started abusing one teen days after she moved in, Florida authorities said.
Daniel Lamppin, 40, is now charged with 24 counts of sexual battery by a custodian, Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said during a May 27 news conference.
According to the sheriff, Lamppin volunteered as a youth pastor at the Connection Church in central Florida and worked at a Chick-fil-A in Orlando.
A Chick-fil-A employee told McClatchy News that Lamppin no longer works at the restaurant but could not provide further comment. McClatchy News also reached out to the church but did not receive a response May 28.
In November, a 15-year-old told law enforcement that Lamppin, while fostering her, had sexually abused her from the time she was 6 until she was 8, sexually battering her three times and physically abusing her once, Lopez said.
While investigating that case, deputies said they found out Lamppin may have abused another former foster child, who’s now an adult.
The woman told investigators Lamppin sexually abused her for years, beginning when she was 16, the sheriff said.
“He began abusing her within days of moving into the home,” Lopez said.
Lamppin’s foster parent rights have been suspended, according to the sheriff.
“It’s sad and it’s sickening,” Lopez said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward, and they believe there could be additional victims.
Osceola County is part of the Orlando metropolitan area.
