Woman streams her girlfriend killing another woman on Facebook Live, Florida cops say
A woman was shot to death while her accused killer’s girlfriend was streaming the incident on Facebook Live, Florida authorities said.
Savon Chantay Tyler, 35, is now charged with first-degree homicide following the Nov. 5 shooting, the Sanford Police Department said.
That evening, 34-year-old Lauren Ashley Martin drove to Tyler’s home to fight Tyler, according to an arrest affidavit by police.
Martin livestreamed the encounter on Facebook, as did Tyler’s girlfriend, police said.
Tyler came out of her home with a miniature child’s baseball bat and a gun, captured on her girlfriend’s Facebook Live.
Tyler set down the gun nearby and approached Martin in the road with the bat, then the two began the fight, police said.
The videos get dark, but Tyler’s girlfriend is heard telling her to beat Martin, then Martin gets control of the mini bat, according to police.
Tyler then retrieved her gun, and with her girlfriend’s encouragement, shot the other woman twice, once in the arm and once in the abdomen, investigators said.
Tyler stayed on the scene and told officers she shot Martin, saying she was worried the woman might have a gun on her and that she was worried about her four kids inside her home.
Martin died at a hospital, and Tyler was charged with homicide, as police said they ruled out self-defense and stand your ground claims.
Sanford is about a 25-mile drive northeast from downtown Orlando.
