Three Florida restaurants rank among nation’s best for vegetarians. What’s on the menu?
Three restaurants in Florida serve vegetarian dishes that customers can’t stop craving.
So much so, the dining spots now rank among the top 25 places to eat vegetarian food in the United States and Canada. Here are the fan-favorite restaurants:
- The Mediterranean Chickpea in Tampa at No. 5
- Pure Kitchen in Tampa at No. 6
- Mio’s Grill & Cafe in St. Petersburg at No. 9
To create the list of “best vegetarian eats,” the review website Yelp said it studied dining destinations across the two countries. It “ranked those spots using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews” and included a maximum of three locations per state for “geographic diversity.”
“We’re excited to show you just how diverse and unique vegetarian cuisine can be with this list of incredible restaurants,” Yelp wrote in its Oct. 18 report.
What makes the Florida restaurants fan favorites?
Of the three Florida restaurants that earned spots on the list, The Mediterranean Chickpea in Tampa ranked the highest. On Yelp, fans raved about the customer service and the taste of falafel, grape leaves and other plant-based dishes.
“We offer a variety of home-made hummus flavors that can accompany any main dish or be eaten as a snack with pita bread or vegetable crudité,” the restaurant wrote on its Yelp page.
Also in Tampa, customers took to Yelp to praise the variety of menu options at Pure Kitchen. The restaurant, which serves items ranging from taco salad to tofu sushi, said it offers grab-and-go vegan dishes.
Rounding out the list of top places for vegetarian food was Mio’s Grill & Cafe in nearby St. Petersburg. The restaurant focuses on Greek and Turkish cuisine, and Yelp users love finishing their meals with baklava for dessert.
Though each of the Florida restaurants earned 4.9 out of 5 stars on Yelp, none of them reigned supreme on Yelp’s list. Instead, the nation’s top-ranked vegetarian restaurant was lil’ Vegerie in Redondo Beach, California, near Los Angeles.
