‘What a great sight!’ Watch how a deer gets out of a tight squeeze in Florida
You’ve heard of a deer caught in the headlights.
This unfortunate animal got caught in a gate outside a Florida home near Gainesville on Thursday.
The feel-good Friday news: The deer eventually returned to whence it came.
The rescue was a team effort and all caught on camera.
A video posted by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office starts with a bystander in shorts and T-shirt placing a blanket or towel over the deer’s head to help keep it calm.
The camera then pans to the beige animal, which is in quite a predicament, half its body through the fence.
A deputy tries to push the deer through the slats. When that doesn’t work, he suggests twisting its body slightly on its side.
That maneuver flips the deer, which then is able to slip out of its steel prison and run off, disappearing out of the frame.
“Every day in law enforcement is an adventure but it’s not every day you get to rescue a deer,” the post says. “What a great group effort to free this beautiful creature! What a great sight to see him run away free!!!”
Many commenters were also relieved by the outcome.
“Poor little one. Thank you for helping him.”
“Oh my goodness, so glad!”
“God bless you guys! Gives me faith in humanity.”
