A Florida doctor asked his girlfriend to take nude pictures of her daughters. She did.
A doctor who had staff privileges at hospitals in The Villages and Ocala areas voluntarily surrendered his license last Thursday over three years after he asked his girlfriend to take nude pictures of her preteen daughters.
That ended the professional discipline part of this case for Windermere doctor Trinetra Vaidya. As for the criminal part, Vaidya’s request — and Oviedo mother Katja Wttewaall Goen Zielke’s apparent willingness to comply — put each on probation in 2020.
After pleading no contest to two counts of using a two-way device to commit a felony, Vaidya is on probation until Dec. 9, 2030, from consecutive five-year sentences of probation. Among other parts of his punishment, Vaidya has to complete a sex offender treatment program; pay restitution, including paying for any therapy needed by Goen’s daughters; and can’t hand out candy on Halloween, wear costumes appealing to children such as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny or a clown.
Katja Goen, 41, pleaded no contest to contributing to the delinquency of a minor, got consecutive one-year probation sentences and will be off probation on Aug. 11. She had to attend parenting class, undergo a mental health evaluation and any recommended treatment and do 50 hours of community service.
Goen’s daughters, at the time of Vaidya’s request, were 11 and 12 years old, according to the Florida Department of Health administrative complaint filed last April.
Pictures without clothes
Vaidya’s online Florida license profile says he’d been licensed in Florida since Aug. 22, 2005, and had staff privileges at The Villages Regional Hospital and Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Some November 2018 text message conversations between Vaidya and Goen, according to the arrest reports, contained photos of nude girls, “youthful in looks.” Some also contained Vaidya asking Goen to take pictures of her girls “as it would sexually gratify him.”
“He instructed Goen to take the pictures while the children were in the shower or changing clothes,” arrest paperwork says. “At no point did Goen deny his request nor attempt to change the subject.”
After, Goen uploaded the text messages to her laptop, the ones with photos and the ones requesting photos, her girls found them.
On Jan. 2, 2019, the reports say, the 11-year-old told Oviedo police, Goen, “entered the bathroom and took a picture of her nude. When she confronted her mother on the pictures, she felt her mother dismissed her concerns and advised she had already deleted it.”
Still, the 11-year-old told Oviedo police, she felt sure her mother had shown Vaidya the picture and he was spending the night in the Goen home.
When police talked to Goen on Jan. 6, “she stated she took candid pictures of (name redacted on the reports) approximately 10 times , but never showed them to her boyfriend.”
