A large group of Haitian migrants arrived in the Upper Florida Keys on Wednesday morning.

The U.S. Border Patrol said 61 people were taken into custody, but there could be additional people who agents did not immediately catch.

The people arrived in a sailboat on the shores of a small, remote residential area off Card Sound Road in northern Key Largo around 9 a.m.

Early Wednesday evening, federal agents were still on the scene, and medics were evaluating the migrants, said Adam Hoffner, a Border Patrol spokesman.

This is a developing story.
