Cops: He threatened to kill her if she didn’t reciprocate his nude photos. She was 10
Simon Anderson knew the girl was 10-years-old. That didn’t stop him from sending her nude photos.
Anderson, 19, was arrested Tuesday on several charges including extortion, possession of child pornography, transmitting material harmful to a child and aggravated cyberstalking. Jail records show he’s being held without bond in Polk County.
Detectives began investigating in late April after another child’s parent was told about Anderson’s illicit Facebook messages to the 10-year-old. The girl later confirmed this in a subsequent interview, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
When investigators searched the 10-year-old’s phone, they discovered multiple inappropriate messages and images of Anderson’s genitals, deputies say. Detectives also took particular note of the tone of Anderson’s messages, which they described as “aggressive.”
“He tried coercing her into sending him nude pictures of herself by threatening to report her to law enforcement, as well as threatening to kill her and himself if she didn’t comply,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The girl eventually did send the photos out of fear, deputies say.
Anderson later admitted to sending the images of his penis, telling detectives that they were “kind of in a relationship,” according to the sheriff’s office. He also claimed that the photos were sent “to be nice.”
“As a parent, this kind of a story has got to break your heart, scare you, and make you angry, all at the same time,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a press release. “Sick creeps like this are out there folks … going after innocent children.”
