An NAACP leader found a Confederate flag in her front lawn as she left for a usual walk Friday morning, according to the Gainesville Sun.

Evelyn Foxx, Alachua County NAACP chapter president, left her house around 6:30 a.m. Monday to meet a friend for their walk. When she got outside, she saw the flag in her yard and called police, according to the Gainesville Sun.

Foxx, 66, also told the Gainesville Sun she has received death threats in late-night phone calls from callers claiming to be with the Ku Klux Klan.

“I’m just a little shaken,” Foxx told the Gainesville Sun. “The phone calls are one thing, but when someone actually comes to my house to do that ...”

Police are investigating to determine if the incident could be classified as a hate crime, according to the Sun. Police ask that anyone with information call detectives at 352-393-7670.
