A 26-year-old man is under arrest after leading police on an early morning chase from Pasco County to Pinellas County, according to Bay News 9.

The chase started around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after the Florida Highway Patrol to stop a 2012 white Nissan Maxima on a suspected DUI on U.S. 19 in Holiday.

However, the vehicle fled as troopers approached the car. After a pursuit at a high rate of speed, the driver eventually lost control near the intersection of U.S. 19 and Tarpon Avenue, according to FHP.

The driver, Bruce Kirkland, 26, has been charged with DUI involving property damage or personal injury, aggravated fleeing to elude at high speeds, aggravated fleeing to elude involving property damage, aggravated fleeing to elude with injury, and possession of controlled substance without a prescription.

Kirkland and a passenger were both hospitalized, according to Bay News 9.
