Sen. Bill Galvano's daughter sings National Anthem to Florida Legislature
TALLAHASSEE -- A fifth grade Stewart Elementary School student showed off her pipes to the Legislature Tuesday morning, but she wasn't exactly a stranger.
Jacqueline Galvano, daughter of Sen. Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, sang the National Anthem to both the Senate's opening session and the joint opening session between the House and the Senate, right before Gov. Rick Scott's State of the State address Tuesday. It was the official opening day of the 2016 Florida session.
Galvano, who is the Senate majority leader and in line to be the Senate president, gave his daughter a hug after her performance in the joint session.
"Jacqueline will be running for the Senate and is collecting commitment cards," current Senate President Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, joked as she walked back to her seat.
You can watch the performance here, it begins at the 6 minute mark.
