Second candidate files for Manatee property appraiser seat in 2016

MANATEE -- Manatee County Property Appraiser Charles Hackney has a challenger for the position in the 2016 election.

Chester Bullock, a Republican, filed for the seat Monday. Bullock, owns Hydro-Stacker, which is a vertical hydroponic growing system.

Bullock could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday morning.

Hackney, a Republican who was elected to the position in 1992, filed for re-election in May. Hackney ran unopposed for the seat since at least the 2008 election.

Hackney brought more than 20 years of professional real estate appraisal experience to the office, according to the property appraiser's website.
