See Election Day results for Bradenton’s mayoral and City Council races
Voters re-elected Mayor Gene Brown and Councilwoman Pam Coachman for their second terms on the Bradenton City Council.
Brown and Coachman both faced competition in Tuesday’s general elections. Former Councilman Bill Sanders aimed to unseat the mayor, while political newcomer Iris Thomas Garcia hoped to become Ward 5’s newest representative.
According to preliminary election results posted Tuesday evening, Brown and Coachman held significant leads over their opponents with the majority of votes reported.
Ward 1 Councilwoman Jayne Kocher was also up for re-election in 2024. She ran unopposed and secured another four-year term.
In her pitch for a second four-year term, Coachman boasted her previous experience on the board and said she hopes to improve city government communication with residents and continue working to improve local infrastructure.
“I feel like it’s pretty crucial right now with the things that are in front of us that we have someone that pretty much knows the ropes already,” Coachman said in a recent interview.
Brown, who was first elected mayor in 2020, campaigned on a platform of securing more workforce housing in downtown Bradenton, applying local traffic fixes and upgrading infrastructure.
“All of this takes a team, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done,” Brown previously told the Bradenton Herald.
