Voters went to the polls in Manatee County on Tuesday in a presidential election with high turnout and even higher implications.

In Florida, voters cast ballots for the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House and the Florida Legislature. There were also six constitutional amendments on the ballot, including one for recreational marijuana and one for abortion access.

In Manatee County, voters cast ballots for several seats on the Manatee County Commission, two local referendums and municipal government races.

Local voters set a new turnout record, with more than 229,000 ballots submitted in Manatee County, putting voter turnout at 81.54%.
