Sen. Marco Rubio town hall meeting in Manatee County will focus on economics Monday

MANATEE -- Sen. Marco Rubio will hold a town hall meeting on economic policy at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Manatee County, making him the third Republican presidential candidate to campaign in the area.

Rubio, the junior senator from Florida, originally planned to come to the Sarasota Yacht Club at noon Sarasota for a private fundraiser, but his campaign announced Friday the town hall meeting had been added at Marine Concepts, 6805 15th St. E., Sarasota.

Matt Chambers, president of Marine Concepts, said owner Bob Long has known Rubio for a long time, and Long suggested he campaign at the location months ago.

Presidential candidates Ben Carson and Donald Trump have also made public appearances in Sarasota drawing large crowds.
