Manatee County is one step closer to building a new park in Parrish.

County leaders agreed this week to set aside $4 million for Hidden Harbor Park. The new park would be built just north of the Manatee River, east of Fort Hamer Road.

The park will feature an observation pier, a boardwalk, a nature trail and a kayak launch, according to Manatee County Government’s Capital Improvement Plan. Other attractions at the park could include a skate park, volleyball courts and a playground.

The county wants to build the park because of the growth on the eastern and northern parts of the county, according to county documents.

County leaders have not announced an expected opening date, but construction on Hidden Harbor Park is expected to begin at the end of this year.
