Armed man threatened mom with kids, CA officials say. ‘Don’t make me shoot you’
A man has been convicted in the 2023 armed robbery of a mom in front of her kids, California officials said.
In March 2023, the woman pulled into her garage and as she was getting her young kids out of the car, Darryl Robinson, while wearing a mask, held a loaded gun to her chest and demanded her wallet, according to an Oct. 9 news release by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
When the woman told Robinson she didn’t have a wallet with her, she said “Don’t make me shoot you in front of your kids,” before taking her phone, rings, necklace and backpack, prosecutors said.
He fled the garage and was eventually taken into custody by officers after police tracked the woman’s cellphone, officials said.
“The terrifying ordeal that the victim endured was nothing short of a living nightmare. The bravery exhibited by the victim, both in the moment and in facing Mr. Robinson in court was commendable,” Assistant District Attorney, Yuri Chornobil, said in the release.
Robinson, 56, was convicted on charges of robbery, child endangerment, criminal threats, possession of a firearm with prior violent conviction, convicted person carrying loaded firearm, and assault with semi-automatic firearm, prosecutors said. He is currently in custody.
He is scheduled to reappear in court on Nov. 14 regarding previous convictions of murder and attempted murder. Robinson had been on parole for less than three years at the time of the 2023 attack, officials said.
His sentencing date will be determined afterwards, officials said.
