Lottery player had a feeling big win was coming his way. Turns out, he was right

A Maryland man had a feeling something good was coming his way.

As of late, the Bowie man has been feeling lucky, Maryland Lottery officials said in an Oct. 3 news release

“I kept thinking I was going to hit the jackpot,” he told lottery officials.

Turns out, his inkling was right: He scored a “$147,550 progressive jackpot on the FAST PLAY Home Run Riches Walk-Off Winnings game on Oct. 1,” lottery officials said.

The winner said he bought his $5 ticket during a coffee stop at a 7-Eleven.

After he got home, the player checked his ticket and realized he had matched the winning number 25, lottery officials said.

“I was shocked,” the man said. “It took me a few minutes to realize that I won. I had to drink more sips of my coffee.”

For now, the winner said he has tucked away his prize but may use it to buy a vacation home sometime in the future.

Bowie is about a 30-mile drive southwest from Baltimore.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
