Women argue at barbershop, then one shoots the other dead, Pennsylvania cops say
A customer was getting her hair cut when police say she shot a woman to death at a Pennsylvania barbershop, news outlets report.
The shooting happened on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Bonez Barbershop in Pittsburgh, police said, WTAE reported.
Police arrested Myairah Carter, 25, on a charge of homicide, accused of fatally gunning down 26-year-old Rayon Williams during a verbal altercation, WPXI reported.
Police said the two women knew each other and had been locked in an “ongoing dispute” that started in 2023, the outlet reported.
Video shows Carter was sitting down in a barber chair and Williams was next to her, and Carter told police Williams was trying to get her to go outside and fight with her, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Williams threatened to hit Carter, then Carter opened fire from beneath a barber cape she was wearing, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported, citing police. Williams ran but collapsed at the back of the barbershop, police said.
Ramone Pierce, the owner of the barbershop, told WTAE he’s devastated by what happened and says it’s not a reflection of his business.
“This isn’t what I wanted this place to be. This isn’t what this place is,” he told the station. “We are a community. This is a place where I want people to feel safe, protected, come vent, laugh, watch sports. Feel good when you leave.”
