Teen shot dead outside house party was ‘the light of every room,’ TX family says
A 17-year-old girl died after being shot in the head outside a Texas house party, according to deputies and news reports.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a residential area in the early morning hours of Sept. 28 after a call was made about a shooting.
Deputies found the body of 17-year-old Alianna Ujueta in the street, the sheriff’s office said. She had been shot in the head, KENS reported.
“This has broken us. This has torn us apart,” Ivan Ujueta, Alianna’s father, told KSAT.
An investigation revealed a fight had taken place outside a house party, leading to the shooting, deputies said. It’s unclear if Alianna was part of the fight or an innocent bystander.
Deputies are now searching for the driver of a dark-colored pickup truck, who they said fled after the shooting.
“Have some courage to do the right thing,” Alianna’s older brother, Kristopher Ujueta, told KSAT. “We don’t want this to happen again.”
Alianna was described by another brother, Josiah Haben, as being “the light in every room (and) the smile on every face.”
“I’m numb and shattered and heartbroken. I don’t understand,” he said in an Instagram post.
Their mother, Terri Ujueta, said Alliana’s “signature smile” is the first thing people noticed about her daughter.
“It was a physical manifestation of the boundless joy and light she brought into every life she touched. We are choosing to focus on that joy now, and the vibrant, happy memories she left us with.”
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at 210-335-6000.
