A shelter in Texas is caring for a precious senior life that came into its care.

Meet Snoots, a 12-year-old dog who is getting some much deserved TLC at Austin Pets Alive after a touch-and-go moment.

“When he first arrived at our clinic, he was unresponsive,” the shelter said in a Facebook reel. “We were afraid he’d gotten here too late.”

Luckily, it was rest and a meal Snoots needed to perk up.

“After some dinner and a good night’s rest, he greeted our vets the next morning at his kennel door, looking like a real dog again,” the shelter continued. “Snoots is geratric emaciated and his jaw looks like it suffered from severe dental disease.”

End of life care for a dog can not only be emotionally taxing, but costly as well, but the shelter is working overtime to make sure Snoots has “love all the way to the end.”

“Despite everything, he’s a total sweetie pie and just wants to be held,” the shelter said. “He doesn’t need much, but we’re prepared to offer him the world as long as he’s in it.”
